Will prices continue to rise with time, or should you expect them to fall?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s important to note home prices have increased, or&nbsp;<strong>appreciated<\/strong>, for&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nar.realtor\/newsroom\/existing-home-sales-recede-2-0-in-august\" target=\"_blank\">114<\/a>&nbsp;straight months. To find out if that trend may continue,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/pulsenomics.com\/surveys\/#home-price-expectations\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Pulsenomics<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;surveyed over 100 economists, investment strategists, and housing market analysts asking for their five-year projections. In terms of what lies ahead, experts say the market may see some slight&nbsp;<strong>deceleration<\/strong>, but not&nbsp;<strong>depreciation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The forecast for the next few years predicts prices will&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.simplifyingthemarket.com\/2021\/09\/09\/home-price-appreciation-is-skyrocketing-in-2021-what-about-2022\/?a=610978-203cf30af1e15a5de8a63d55ab30d1b4\">continue to rise<\/a>, just not at the same accelerated pace we\u2019ve seen over the last year.&nbsp;<strong>Over 100 experts agree, there is no expectation for price depreciation<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bill McBride, author of the blog&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.calculatedriskblog.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Calculated Risk<\/em><\/a>, also expects&nbsp;<strong>deceleration,&nbsp;<\/strong>but not depreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Does This Deceleration Mean for You?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What experts are projecting for the years ahead is more in line with the historical norm for appreciation. According to data from\u00a0<em>Black Knight<\/em>, the average annual appreciation from 1995-2020 is 4.1%.  Forecasts are closer to that pace, which means you should see appreciation at a level that\u2019s aligned with a more normal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re a buyer, <strong>don\u2019t expect a sudden or drastic drop in home prices <\/strong>\u2013 experts say it won\u2019t happen. Instead, think about your homeownership goals and consider purchasing a home before prices rise further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re a seller, the continued home price appreciation is good news for the value of your house.
